Major Writing blog post 1

This writing is about us exploring our major in a deeper way. We are supposed to research what type of writings that is being used in our major. As an elementary education major I am researching what types of writing is used on an everyday basis during the day as a teacher. Some examples are lesson plans, emails, etc. Another important aspect to this writing is the use of academic and nonacademic writings. Academic writings are written by scholarly writers and use research to back up what they have to say. It is non biased and factual. Nonacademic writings are opinion based writings. Can be found in magazines, non scholarly websites, etc. Some questions I have are: 1) Where to find academic sources and what type of sources should I be looking for 2) Do we get in class time to work on our paper in class 3) How does APA format work
Some strong attributes I have are I use my creativity as best as I can. I like to paint a picture in my head when I have to write a story. I also like to use my senses to get the best descriptive writing possible. A big concern is I feel like my grammar could improve a lot better and use more transition words more often. I feel lime my overall writing style could improve and become a better writer in the end of the class I want to improve my overall writing style. Better sentence structure, better grammar, and become a scholar writer in the end.

Qualities of Good Writing

One piece of writing that impacted my life greatly is a letter my parents wrote me before I moved into college. They talked about the highest parts in my life, the lowest parts and how i've over came them, talked about their feelings about me moving onto the next chapter in my life, and so much more. The main reasons why this letter was so impactful was because they put so much emotion into it and used personal stories with details. They've spent so much time and effort into it which can be another reason why it was so impactful. Ive never felt so happy, sad, encouraged, scared, in my life but that is what new beginnings should feel like.
